Book Team

Welcome to The New York Critique’s Book Team, where we will meet with you twice per month via Zoom to keep your manuscript on track.

As authors, we all hit rough patches in our manuscripts and occasionally struggle with our hook, action, description, conflict, pacing, setting, dialogue, and our MOTIVATION to keep writing.

With Book Team, you will meet individually with either William Sirls or Sam Bauer, both industry professionals with proven track records of success.

Author William Sirls had his first novel picked up by HarperCollins/Thomas Nelson without an agent. He holds a master’s degree in creative writing, and his debut novel became a #1 bestseller with the film adaptation released by Pureflix and Universal Studios.

Veteran Hollywood editor Sam Bauer is the founder of Peripheral Edit, an LA-based company that handles all aspects of production editing. Primarily known as the editor of the cult classic “Donnie Darko,” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam’s expertise and understanding of the building blocks of effective story are seen in his works that have featured The Rock, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Paul Walker, Justin Timberlake, and many more.

Who you work with in the publishing business matters!

There are those who talk a mean game, and those who have achieved what you are trying to do. After all, if you want to be a professional baseball player, do you want help from someone who has read a book about baseball, or do you want a professional baseball player showing you how you can do it?

We will help you set realistic daily word count goals, guide you through common manuscript snags, and keep you motivated to write until your manuscript is ready for success.

It doesn’t matter where you are in your novel. Simply email us at writers@thenewyorkcritique.com, and we will get back to you to discuss how meeting with Book Team twice per month will make a huge difference in your life as a writer!
